Life has hard lessons to teach us, and I suppose we get over the ache of loss, but at least you have memories of the funny times, and what funny times they were. and until it's life was cut short, well, what a lovely life your chicken had eh? xxLady Penelopehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17720133719887921036noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7957901921597007787.post-88913600712749890042010-07-18T14:39:11.523-04:002010-07-18T14:39:11.523-04:00Incredible story!

One day, after school, my mother said my pet duck had run away. That same night we had "chicken" and the "chicken" tasted mighty strange.

I have never eaten a pet animal, a dog or a cat or a duck (to my knowledge) and I never will.

However, I was once attacked, chased, and pecked by a chicken as a very small boy. "RUN, RUN, The CHICKEN is out!" So the chicken and I share a very strained relationship and unresolved childhood issues.

Still, I cheered when the dogs were not invited to the funeral in this story. Bad dogs! Was that back in the early seventies? Anyway, one night, someone drove into my grandparents farm and stole all their chickens. To this day none of us know how someone could steal close to 100 chickens without a squawk.

Yes, I double post on Window Live Spaces and Blogger. I’m not giving up on Spaces just yet?
