Throw WAYYY Back Thursday ~~

It was Christmas. I was 4 yrs old and can still remember this day. First 2-wheel bike, but with training wheels, of course. The tall case beside me opened and housed my favorite doll with her clothes on miniature hangers. And way over on the right was a pink stuffed animal that I had up until my last move. The curtains were the real thing of the day – big red and pink and green cabbage roses, haha. Much ado was made over “placing” the tinsel so that each piece hung straight and wasn’t just thrown on. Didn’t matter, my dog and cat made mincemeat out of it all before the day was up. My most loved present was the book on my lap. I was an early reader and would curl up anywhere I could find, have Winnie (dog) and Bootsie (cat) right beside me, and read all day long. That particular book was a geography book and I thought it was glorious with all the pictures so huge and the colors so bright. I actually thought I was seeing the whole world. Good days, yes indeed.

  1. Oh, Jenny, how wonderful. I love this. You were, and still, beautiful and smart. The tinsel? I had two brothers who thought you were supposed to throw it in huge handfuls. :)

P.S. I had just posted a TBT right before I read your comment. hahaha I think we were separated at birth except you came later as I'm older. :)

  2. Many old memories are sweet for me too! We are both fortunate to have had good childhoods to remember.

  3. I always had a book with me in my childhood and appreciated gifts like yours just as you did! A geography book! Did you have a map of the States? I remembered them by their shapes. Colors, too! Such a sweet photo! ~ Julie, Tom's housekeeper :)

  4. Our living room looked very similar to yours, especially in black and white! Ha ha! We were so lucky to have grown up back in the good ol' days. Life was simple, people were honest and worked for everything they had. Times have really changed.

Thanks for your comment on my recent post. I never thought about having pneumonia until reading your comment. Damn! I went to urgent care today, waited 3 hours in a room full of sick people and found out, by golly, I do have pneumonia! I'm on antibiotics and a cough suppressant and hopefully I'll be better in a few days. Thanks Jenny for bringing it up. I've never had it or any other breathing/lung problems. Now I know what to look out for.

  5. Can't tell you how relieved I am! Check your email: I wrote a book to you there, haha.
Yes, we were lucky to come up when we did, and you know what? Most times I still live in black and white. ;)

  6. Some of us would kill for those cabbage rose draperies today! I know I would. They make wonderful pillow covers. I loved reading too. I spent the whole summer with books surrounding me. Thanks for bringing back good time memories.

  7. I suspect most Bloggers are readers from a young age. There is something about words and language that one either finds delightful or not. In general, those who write, read a lot. I think the care with tinsel really does make the tree a lot prettier. I can clearly see in the pic how straight and lovely it looks on that tree. You weren't bad yourself!
